I can’t believe October is almost over, but it is. Which means it’s almost November, which also means the year is almost over. Here’s hoping we can close out 2020 with some good news since there has been a distinct lack of it going around. At the very least (and I mean very least), we’ll have new stuff to watch on HBO Max! Here are the best TV shows and movies coming to HBO Max in November 2020.

Thief

Michael Mann‘s feature debut Thief is a sharp, melancholy, stylish thriller that has James Caan as a master thief who decides to go straight and start a family with his new wife, played by Tuesday Weld. That’s not going to be so easy, however, because Caan decides to pull one last big score for a powerful gangster (Robert Prosky). Things get complicated – and deadly – with Mann’s smart script keeping things tense and taught but surprisingly subtle.

quarantine stream the devil's advocate

The Devil’s Advocate

Wildly over-the-top and fun in a really silly way, The Devil’s Advocate has Keanu Reeves using a really bad Southern accent and Al Pacino screaming until his face turns red. Reeves is a hotshot young lawyer who gets recruited to a fancy New York law firm. The twist: the firm is run by the devil himself, played by Pacino, who is really having fun here. Oh, and also, all the other lawyers at the firm are demons or something. It’s not very clear. But it is entertaining.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Popstar

The hilarious Popstar flopped at the box office, because we can’t have nice things. Thankfully, this mockumenatry about singer Conner “Conner4Real” Friel (Andy Samberg) has developed a strong cult following. As the doc starts, Conner has launched a solo career after leaving his group the Style Boyz. But everything comes crashing down when Conner’s latest solo album tanks.

the dead don't die clip

The Dead Don’t Die

Jim Jarmusch star-studded zombie comedy might be the most laid-back zombie movie ever made, but it’s also a lot of fun. When the walking dead invade a small town, the local law enforcement (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny) are woefully inept to deal with it, even though Driver’s character seems to be the only person who knows what’s going on.

The Prophecy

Goofy, violent, and a total blast, The Prophecy has Christopher Walken strutting around as an evil angel trying to destroy humanity as a war rages in heaven. None of it makes a lick of sense, but that’s fine, because Walken gets to wear leather pants and say stuff like, ” Can’t drive. But I can wait. Until stars burn out if you don’t make up your mind.”
